Florida Christmas Boat Parades 2026: Dates by City
Dates for the 2026 Florida Christmas boat parades, including Winterfest in Fort Lauderdale, plus tips for watching by boat: anchoring, lights and no-wake rules.
The biggest Christmas boat parade in Florida, the Winterfest Boat Parade in Fort Lauderdale, is set for Saturday, December 12, 2026, with the parade and fireworks starting at 6:00 p.m. Other cities hold their own boat parades of lights through late November and December. Dates below are confirmed only where an organizer or city page shows them, and anything else is marked for you to check.
As of October 17, 2026, dates were not final everywhere, so always confirm with the organizer before you plan a trip or a night on the water. After the table, you will find practical tips for watching from your own boat, including anchoring, lights, no-wake zones and safety rules.

The Winterfest Boat Parade
The Winterfest parade is the best-known holiday boat parade in Florida. The 2026 edition is on Saturday, December 12, with a 6:00 p.m. start for the parade and fireworks and a pre-show at 5:30 p.m., according to the official Winterfest site. The site also lists ticketed viewing options, including a parade viewing area and a VIP viewing party, and a "Where To Watch" page with TV airings and viewing options. The route is about 12 miles of the Intracoastal Waterway and nearby canals, so there are many places to watch from shore.
If you live on the water or keep a boat in Fort Lauderdale, our Fort Lauderdale marinas page lists six marinas with phone numbers and fuel dock info. Fort Lauderdale boaters will also want our Fort Lauderdale Boat Show guide, since waterway traffic is heavy in both events.
Tampa Bay and the Gulf coast
The Tampa Riverwalk calendar lists its holiday lighted boat parade for December 19, 2026, with boats competing for Best Decorated Boat and People's Choice. The Riverwalk says the parade draws thousands of spectators each December. In Madeira Beach, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater lists the Festival of Lights Boat Parade for December 12, 2026, and notes that parking will be difficult and that waterfront hotels and restaurants offer viewing spots. For local marinas and ramps, see our pages for Tampa, St. Petersburg and Madeira Beach. Check Tampa tide times before you head out.
Jacksonville, Naples and elsewhere
Jacksonville's city-run Holiday River Fest, which includes the lighted boat parade, was held on November 29 in 2025, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Naples Bay's parade is traditionally held in mid-December (December 13 in 2025). Neither organizer's 2026 date was confirmed in our checks, so look at the Jacksonville and Naples pages for marinas and then confirm the date with the organizer. For tide times see Jacksonville and Naples.
Watching a boat parade from your own boat
Plan your arrival and launch
Parade nights are crowded. Launch early, fuel up beforehand (see the Florida fuel docks directory), and know your ramp. Our Florida boat ramps directory and the boat ramps near me page help you find a launch near the route. Expect ramp lines on parade day.
Anchoring and lights
You will probably be on the water after dark, so know the anchoring light rules. Under Rule 30 of the Inland Navigation Rules (33 CFR 83.30), a vessel at anchor shows an all-round white light where it can best be seen. A vessel under 7 meters (about 23 feet) at anchor is exempt only when it is not in or near a narrow channel, fairway, anchorage or anywhere other vessels normally navigate. A parade route is exactly where other vessels navigate, so show your light. Also note that a vessel under 20 meters anchored in a Coast Guard-designated special anchorage area is exempt, but that is a narrow case, so check the chart.
If you decorate your boat, keep your required navigation lights fully visible and unblocked, and make sure string lights do not cause glare for the helm. Run lights on a safe power source and check your battery before you go, using our marine batteries guide.
Stay out of the parade lane
- Parade boats follow a set route. Anchor outside it and outside the channel.
- Follow no-wake and idle-speed zones. Your wake can toss decorated boats and anchored spectators.
- Rafting up with friends is common. Use plenty of fenders and set your anchor properly. Our boating knots guide covers the knots you need.
- Keep a lookout. Many boats sit low and dark between parade entries.
Safety rules that apply
- Life jackets: In Florida, a child under 6 on a vessel less than 26 feet must wear a Coast Guard-approved Type I, II or III life jacket while the boat is underway. See our guide to Coast Guard approved life jackets.
- Alcohol: Operating a vessel in Florida with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher is illegal. Name a sober skipper before you leave the dock.
- Weather: Check the forecast and know what warnings mean. Read special marine warning vs. small craft advisory.
- Registration and education: See Florida's boating license and registration rules.
Don't have a boat? Where to watch
Parade organizers and tourism boards usually list shoreline spots, and some offer paid viewing areas. Winterfest has ticketed viewing events. In Madeira Beach, visitors can watch along the canals and from waterfront hotels and restaurants, but parking is hard. Arrive early, use shuttles or rideshare where possible, and bring a light jacket.
