    Finding the right ramp

    How the search works

Tap “Use my location” and allow your browser to share your position. The page compares it with every open ramp in the official FWC inventory and lists the nearest first, by straight-line distance. On a laptop without GPS the position can be rough: choose a city instead.

Each result shows what matters before you hitch up: free or paid, lanes, trailer spaces, salt or fresh water. The ramp page adds hours, restrooms, the ramp surface, nearby marinas and fuel docks, and today's weather, wind and tides.

Before you drive to the ramp

    • Count the trailer spaces. On a sunny weekend, a ramp with a small lot can be full by mid-morning: keep a second ramp in mind.
    • Check the wind and the tide on the ramp page. A strong onshore wind makes loading hard, and on shallow ramps low tide can leave the end of the ramp out of the water.
    • Look at the fee and the hours. Some ramps sit inside parks that close at night or charge for parking.
    • Bring your registration and safety gear: see our boating license and registration guide.

Launching without holding up the line

    • Get ready in the staging area, away from the ramp: drain plug in, straps off, lines and fenders on, gear loaded.
    • Launch, then move the boat to the courtesy dock and the truck to the trailer lot right away.
    • When you come back, wait for your turn at the dock, not on the ramp, and back the trailer down only when the boat is ready.

    Questions

How do I find the nearest boat ramp?

Tap “Use my location”: your phone or browser shares your position with this page, and the closest ramps are listed by straight-line distance, with directions in Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze. Your position stays on your device. You can also pick a city instead.

Are boat ramps in Florida free?

Most are. Of the 1,558 open trailer ramps in the FWC inventory, 1,094 are listed as free and 385 charge a launch or parking fee. Check the ramp page: the fee shown is the one the FWC lists.

Can I launch a kayak or paddleboard at a boat ramp?

Yes, and the FWC inventory also lists 845 hand launch sites made for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards, with no trailer ramp. Tick “Include paddle launches” to see them.

What should I check before driving to a ramp?

The number of lanes and trailer spaces (a busy weekend fills small lots early), the fee, the hours, and today's wind and tide: on shallow ramps, low tide can leave the end of the ramp out of the water. Each ramp page shows today's conditions.

Is the distance the driving distance?

No, it is the straight-line distance. Driving time depends on roads and bridges: the directions button gives you the real route.
