Dundalk has a mixed tide. The two high (or low) tides of a day can be very different, and some days show only one high and one low. This is normal here, not an error: the daily (diurnal) part of the tide is strong compared with the twice-daily part. Why some places have one tide a day.
Small tidal range. The tide here rarely moves the water more than 1.8 ft: wind, air pressure and river flow often change the water level more than the tide does.
Solunar periods: the moon overhead or underfoot (major, about 2 h) and moonrise or moonset (minor, about 1 h). Fish often feed more around these times, especially when they match a tide change. How the moon affects tides.
