Texas Boat Slip Prices 2026: Lakes vs Gulf Coast
Texas boat slip prices by boat length from 14 marinas' own rate sheets: nightly, monthly and annual medians, marina-by-marina rates and the limits of the data.
Boat slip prices in Texas in October 2026 have a median of $660 a month and $5,170 a year for a 40-foot boat, and $60 a night for transient stays, based on official rate sheets. Those medians rest on only 5, 6 and 2 marinas, because just 14 of the 338 Texas marinas listed on Marinalo publish a slip rate we could read. This study shows the numbers and says plainly where the data is too thin to compare Texas lakes with the Gulf Coast.
It uses only rates read on a marina's own rate sheet, each dated October 14, 2026. For how slip pricing works in general, see how much a boat slip costs; for the larger Florida data set, see Florida boat slip prices in 2026.
Key findings
- For a 40-foot boat, the Texas median is $60 per night (2 marinas), $660 per month (5) and $5,170 per year (6).
- Median annual rates rise from $2,310 at 20 ft to $10,890 at 60 ft, from 3 to 6 marinas per length.
- Nightly rates are published by two coastal marinas only, in Freeport and Kemah. Monthly and annual rates come from inland marinas only. The two groups do not overlap, so a like-for-like lake versus coast comparison is not possible yet.
- For a 40-foot boat, annual rates among the six marinas range from $4,740 to $7,150.
- Only 14 of 338 Texas marinas publish a slip rate we could read. The rest do not post a rate we could read, so call for a quote.

Simple arithmetic on the 40-foot medians gives about $16.50 a foot a month and about $129 a foot a year. Those are derived figures. Note too that twelve months at the monthly median is $7,920, more than the annual median of $5,170. The two medians come from different groups of marinas, but the pattern is what you would expect if annual leases carry a discount, so ask any marina what an annual commitment saves.
Marina by marina: 40-foot boat
With so few marinas, the best way to read the data is to look at each one. Every row comes from an official rate sheet retrieved on October 14, 2026.
| Marina | Location | Per night | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freeport Marina | Freeport (Gulf Coast) | $60 | no data | no data |
| Portofino Harbour Marina | Kemah (Galveston Bay) | $60 | no data | no data |
| Lake Country Marina | Fort Worth | no data | $574 | $6,684 |
| Cottonwood Cove Marina | Little Elm | no data | $650 | $7,150 |
| Grandpappy Point Resort and Marina | Denison | no data | $660 | $5,170 |
| Little Mineral Marina & Resort | Pottsboro | no data | $660 | $5,170 |
| Mill Creek Resort and Marina | Pottsboro | no data | $675 | $5,170 |
| Juniper Cove Marina | Whitney | no data | no data | $4,740 |
The three marinas around Denison and Pottsboro publish the same 40-foot annual rate, $5,170, so they count as three marinas in the median but not as three independent price points. Eagle Mountain Marina (Fort Worth) and Hurst Harbor Marina (Austin) also publish rates for 30-foot boats: $430 and $567 a month respectively, against $320 a month at Grandpappy Point, Little Mineral and Mill Creek.
For city detail, Marinalo has pages for Freeport, Kemah and Pottsboro, each showing the marinas listed there and which ones publish a rate.
Lakes versus Gulf Coast: what the data can say
The title question is fair, and the answer today is that there is not enough data to compare them directly. Here is why:
- Nightly rates exist only for two coastal marinas. No inland marina in our data publishes a nightly rate we could read.
- Monthly and annual rates exist only for inland marinas. No coastal marina in our data publishes one we could read.
- A comparison needs the same kind of rate on both sides. Nothing in the data lets us put a coastal annual rate next to an inland one.
What we can say is narrower. Inland, the annual rate for a 40-foot boat runs from $4,740 to $7,150 across six marinas. On the coast, a 40-foot boat costs $60 a night at the two marinas that publish a rate. We will update this study as more rate sheets are read. Until then, call the marinas on your own shortlist and ask for the written rate sheet.
What to check before you rent a Texas slip
- Lake levels: On inland lakes, water level can affect access to a slip and to nearby ramps. Our boating guides for Lake Ray Hubbard, Lake Livingston and Lake LBJ cover local conditions.
- Coastal storms: On the coast, ask about the marina's storm and hurricane rules before you commit. See hurricane prep for boats.
- What is included: Ask whether electricity, water and trash are in the rate.
- Alternatives: A wet slip is not the only option. Dry stack, a trailer and a lift can cost less. If you trailer your boat, look at the public Texas boat ramps and the Texas fuel docks.
Methodology
- Sources: Marina websites and their rate sheets, plus fee schedules published by cities and counties that run public marinas.
- Collection: Each document is archived with its retrieval date. All Texas rates in this study were retrieved on October 14, 2026.
- Checks: A price is published only if it appears word for word in the source and passes plausibility checks. Rates marked "call," "from" or "minimum" and rates reserved for some boats, such as wide-beam boats and catamarans, are not published automatically.
- What counts: Only marinas with a published rate enter a median. The Texas medians come from 14 of 338 marinas listed and describe those marinas, not the whole state.
- Transient and lease: Nightly stays and long-term leases are kept apart.
- Limits: Rates change. Confirm with the marina. This is an estimate, not a quote.

FAQ
How much does a boat slip cost in Texas?
For a 40-foot boat, the median is $660 a month (5 marinas), $5,170 a year (6) and $60 a night (2) in Marinalo data from October 2026. For a 20-foot boat it is $210 a month, $2,310 a year and $30 a night.
Is a slip cheaper on a Texas lake or on the coast?
The data cannot say yet. Nightly rates are published only by coastal marinas and monthly and annual rates only by inland ones, so nothing can be compared like for like.
How much is an annual boat slip in Texas?
Among six marinas that publish an annual rate, a 40-foot slip costs between $4,740 and $7,150, with a median of $5,170. For a 30-foot boat the median is $3,520 (4 marinas).
Why does Texas have so few published rates?
Marinalo lists 338 Texas marinas, but only 14 publish a slip rate we could read. The others do not post a dated rate we could read.
How much is a transient slip in Texas?
Two coastal marinas, in Freeport and Kemah, publish nightly rates: $30 for 20 ft, $45 for 30 ft, $60 for 40 ft, $75 for 50 ft and $90 for 60 ft.
